Data Transfer On a LAN

Serial Data Transfer

Data is transferred in a serial format, data can travel in single bit stream in both directions and how it
does depends on the type of connection

We have a couple of different types of connections like
simplex connection, duplex connection, half duplex connections

Simplex connection

This connection is like a way street, they can only transfer data from one device to another

Duplex connections

Its like a two way, here we can send and receive data at the same time

Half Duplex connections

Here we have two way street but only one data can be send at a time

Speed Of data

The speed of data travels is measured by bits per second (bps)
we signify data transfer rate in Mbps, where M- stands for Mega and bps- stands for bits per second
and the Mbps is called Bitrate, we use bitrate to measure the speed of data transferred

Data Transfer in LANs

Before data is transferred, it actually goes through really interesting process

1. We break large chunks of datas into segments

2. Then the addressing information is rapped                                                        .    around that segment and we call it a packet

3.Then we add a little more information and we           .   call it a frame

4. Then each frame is then broken into a bits

When it comes to the data receiving , this goes to reverse process
The receiving device will go and take all those bits and read the frame and its gonna strip that physical addressing information and then its gonna strip the logical information known as the IP address,  and it come backs into its segment form and thats gonna be reassembled to the file that we click on in the windows explorer
